Roblox Business Operations & Data Science

From 2018 to 2021, Ryan worked internally at Roblox as a Business Operations Analyst on the Finance team and Data Scientist on the Developer Relations team. In both roles, he focused on supporting the platform and developer community through content analysis and strategic planning. Using a combination of business and statistical analysis, Ryan helped plan and implement a variety of programs ranging from live operations events to developer funding programs.

Ryan & Roblox Developer Relations

Live Ops & Brand Marketing Events

Ryan was instrumental in building the live operations strategy for both internal seasonal events and brand marketing campaigns on Roblox. He created the performance metrics used to evaluate the success of 13 events, ranging from the annual Easter Egg Hunt to the Lil Nas X concert. This work was especially important as Roblox created a new category of advertising within the metaverse.

Game Design & Strategy Consulting

Ryan played an important role in the planning and implementation of several key developer support programs. He helped build the business case for a game design advisory program and the pilot of the Roblox Creator Fund. Ryan coordinated with the Developer Relations team to advise top Roblox games on how to improve game design with the use of analytics and worked 1-on-1 with developers to create budgets, production timelines, and pitch presentations.

Content & Developer Analytics

Ryan was responsible for all data related to measuring the size and performance of the Roblox developer community. His work ranged from building data pipelines to creating developer program KPIs. Ryan also played an important role in developing the KPIs used both internally and by developers to measure game performance.
